A fabulous evening

It's been ten years since I last visited the de Montfort Hall in Leicester, but it's a brilliant venue. And so was the performer on the night, Suzanne Vega. Her songs are ageless, her words are captivating, and the performance was faultless, despite the sold out crowd a bit slow to appreciate her. The old numbers came early, thankfully, the more recent later, but it got us in the mood. And she's dry, witty and funny, are you sure she's American. Never seen her live before, but would buy another ticket in a heartbeat. A wonderful evening's entertainment, thank you.

Seducing me since 1984

She is incredible and is as strong now as the first time I saw her on the TV in 1984

An Intimate Evening of Songs and Stories with Suzanne Vega, The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester - 20th February 2023

Excellent Gig by Suzanne Vega

Suzanne Vega was the proper professional & performed all of her classic songs along with stories too. She also performed some new songs dedicated to the people of Ukraine 🇺🇦 which was a nice touch. Gerry Leonard on lead guitar 🎸 was exemplary & stunned the audience with his playing

An Intimate Evening of Songs and Stories with Suzanne Vega, The Anvil, Basingstoke - 12th February 2023

Vega emerged as a leading figure of the folk-music revival of the early 1980s when, accompanying herself on acoustic guitar, she sang what has been called contemporary folk or neo-folk songs of her own creation in Greenwich Village clubs. Since the release of her self-titled, critically acclaimed 1985 debut album, she has given sold-out concerts in many of the world’s best-known venues. Known for performances that convey deep emotion, Vega’s distinctive, “clear, unwavering voice” (Rolling Stone) has been described as “a cool, dry sandpaper-brushed near-whisper” by The Washington Post, with NPR Music noting that she “has been making vital, inventive music” throughout the course of her decades-long career.
