Loved the atmosphere as always, Whelan's is a great spot for any gig. Went to see Rhys Lewis back in 2019 and this time was even better! Phenomenal artist; great songwriter and the place was electric! Only disadvantage to the overall night was the audience themselves chit-chatting between songs which was really distracting and really rude to the performer. Overall though, great night! It definitely didn't impact my rating, I'm sticking to 5 stars!

Rhys Lewis, Whelan's, Dublin - 1st February 2023
This was an excellent gig. Rhys has crafted together a strong collection of songs and these were delivered superbly. The supporting cast of musicians added to the songs through their thoughtful and professional playing - leaving the songs the breathe and live, creating light and shade. Rhys's easy manner and confidence on the stage showcased both his natural personality and the experience of many years of gigging. Definitely go and catch Rhys when he is next around - you will not be disappointed. A noticeable difference in class between Rhys and the supporting acts. Can't remember the name of the first act but it felt a bit awkward and a lot of the songs were missing the strong melodic hooks that I personally like. Lead singer looked a bit serious and tentative, possibly all part of the stage persona - which was a bit of a shame as later in the evening when she was offstage and relaxed she had a beautiful smile which lit her face up. Flatlands were on next and they were..... a bit frantic. A lot of up tempo stuff but it came across as a group of sixth form friends who thought it would a good laugh to start a band. As an observer the bass player spent most of the time behind the beat and the band need a lead singer who can sing in tune. Rhys though - hopefully this is the beginning of a long and successful musical career!
