Legends

When a Motown legend comes to a local venue you have to visit. Had a chat Martha and Lois afterwards. Incredible. One of those nights that you will remember forever. 6 stars!

great gig but so noisey

a very enjoyable gig ,small venue but we liked that ,band were great , my only problem was the noise from people talking through the whole performance this i feel was due to seating arranged at the back and on one side, everyone else stood on the dance floor in front of stage , so the ones who sat most didnt stand up or couldnt so they just chatted away and it was so loud at times you could hardly here the band ,personally i think the seats should be removed and made standing only event in future

Pioneers of R&B, soul and pop; Martha Reeves & The Vandellas are firmly etched into the history of contemporary music. Their work paved the way for modern music and shaped the way for things to come.

Led by the incredible vocals of Martha Reeves, they have put out a string of hits on Motown’s Gordy label which include Quicksand, Bless You, Jimmy Mack, Nowhere To Run, Dancing In The Street, (Love Is Like A) Heat Wave plus Come And Get These Memories.

We offer you the chance to see the living legends perform live for yourself when the incredible band make their return to the UK to play two dates later this year. Catch them at Newcastle Riverside plus Old Fire Station at Carlisle during June 2019.

First formed in 1957, the band was created after Reeves had already enjoyed limited success as a solo artist. By 1962 they had scored their first hit with the song Come And Get These Memories, soon followed by (Love Is Like A) Heat Wave. This signified the start of their Sixties hay days which saw them become a household name home and abroad as they began to enjoy international success.

The band’s success continued into the next decade before splitting in 1972. They were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1995 and now make sporadic rare returns to the stage.
