Brilliant, family friendly folk festival with a real community vibe! Everyone super friendly and the performances I saw were all excellent.

Loved it - venue was small but just the right size for the session. Fantastic atmosphere - young & old and in between. Will be back next year :)

Allen Valleys Folk Festival , Allen Valleys, Hexham - 27th September 2019
This was our first experience of this particular festival, it's also the first for us where it's been centred around the heart of a village in small venues where you can get up close and personal with the performers. We absolutely loved it. We didn't see every band but did catch almost all of those we'd wanted to see, so I'd say that the programme had just about the right level of choice. It was especially good to see bands based in the north of England/Scotland but that's why we decided to give it a try. We loved the idea of the bursary for young musicians from the area but it's a shame that we didn't at least get to hear the winners. It was tremendously good value, we had weekend tickets booked early so got a very good deal indeed. We'd have been happy to pay a good deal more and it's almost a sure thing that we'll come again, hopefully bringing friends with us to share the experience.

The music was brilliant from start to finish, a great mix of dancing, workshops and sit-down gigs with highly skilled and thought provoking performances. The burning of the wolf of Allendale was a particular highlight, as was the clog dancing workshop and the energy of Ezza.
